About me

I am originally from the San Gabriel Valley in Southern California.  I received my Master of Social Work degree from Brigham Young University in 2013 and opened my private practice in 2017.  My experience includes: providing therapy in a men's residential treatment center for substance abuse/addiction, working with individuals with Opiate dependence in a medication assisted treatment outpatient clinic, treating teens and young adults with mood and behavioral disorders in a psychiatric hospital and working with couples and individuals in private practice.  Although I have worked with teens in the past, I am only working with adults at the moment.

My areas of expertise include: anxiety/stress management, trauma (PTSD), and addiction (drug/alcohol, pornography). I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients develop strategies to decrease symptoms related to anxiety, trauma and addiction. I meet with individuals and couples in-person and via HIPPA compliant video/phone conferencing.

I also provide treatment for depression, relationship issues, men's issues, and LDS faith crises/transitions. I have experience working with military veterans and individuals who seek a multi-cultural perspective.

Feel free to email, call or text me at (385) 515-0050 to schedule an appointment or a free 15-minute consultation call. I offer evening and weekend appointments if the traditional 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM office hours do not fit your schedule.

Words from Others:

"I really connected with you, thanks for helping me take control of my life again."

"You probably don't know this or hear it enough, but you are one of the best therapists I have ever had.  By far one of the most knowledgeable and relatable.  Thanks Javier."

"Javier, I want to thank you for helping my son, I don't think the improvements that he made would have been possible without you."

"I learned so much from you, thanks man, I really do appreciate everything you have done for me and my relationship.  I can't begin to express what it feels like to focus on the now."

"Your commitment to what you do is awesome, even when I lost my insurance, you still helped me.  I don't know what I would have done without your help."

"I don't think I would be able to do what you do on a daily basis, but I am thankful that you care about what you do.  Even though the past few months have been a roller-coaster for me, I always felt that talking to you put things in perspective.  You helped keep me rational and level-headed."

"Javy, thanks for all your work and all the work we will continue to do.  You always kept me honest and helped me learn how to be accountable.  My wife and kids see a big difference too.  Thanks brother!"

"It was really good to have someone to talk to that listened and was judgement free.  I appreciated your insight and your encouraging words.  Thanks again."

"People should know that they will have doubts about therapy and if it's working.  The more you go and get honest, the more you get better and change.  I learned that it was about the changes I had to make and not about the world changing for me.  Thank you Javier."
